Lactation Appointments
Our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) are available for private appointments to discuss any issues or problems you may encounter during this special time with your new baby. Our services are currently available Monday through Friday in our Lansdowne, Purcellville and Stone Springs locations and are available to breastfed babies of any age. Our Lactation Consultants are equipped to assist with position and latch, low milk supply, pumping techniques, weight checks, tongue tie evaluation, mastitis, back to work consults, establishing breastfeeding with premature babies, and many other topics.
In hopes of getting moms off to great start, we schedule all initial newborn appointments along with a lactation consultation. This full hour appointment allows mom time to do a full feed in the office in addition to pre and post weights to determine how much baby is drinking. Also, our Lactation Consultants will review proper latching and positions, frequency and duration of feeds, engorgement management and review of waking techniques to ensure baby is having a productive feeding session.
All intial newborn and new patient appointments are scheduled for 60 minutes and follow up appointments, depending on the need, are 30 minutes. An added benefit is that all visits will be filed with your child’s insurance company for reimbursement and our busy new moms avoid all the lengthy hold times or tedious paperwork that sometimes accompany insurance filing.
Accessories
For your convenience, we have a variety of breastfeeding-related items available for purchase. This includes things such as nursing pads, breast milk storage bags, lanolin, hands free pumping bras and replacement pump parts. We also offer the popular Moby wraps in a variety of colors. Shop after your appointment or drop by to pick up items you are in need of.
Health services for mom
We want to keep both babies and moms healthy. To that end, our Nurse Practitioner IBCLC’s can provide medical treatment for mothers for a variety of breastfeeding ailments including breast infections (Mastitis), nipple soreness, and yeast infections (candidiasis). Following a full exam and medical history, our provider will intiate a treatment plan and discuss any necessary follow up. Our office will file for reimbursement with your insurance company.
